KTH offers first turnkey package systems for API seal and lube applications

One of the first contracts awarded to KTH for a complete auxiliary package, is destined for a new FPSO serving the Aseng oilfield in Block 1 offshore Equatorial Guinea.

Work commenced on the FPSO at the Keppel facility in Singapore during the second quarter of 2010 and the vessel is expected to be operational sometime in the second half of 2011

Pump lube and seal system package on skidThe FPSO, which will operate in 3,281 feet of water, will have capacity to handle 120,000 barrels of liquids per day, including processing of 80,000 b/d of oil, injection of up to 150,000 b/d of water, as well as handling 170 million cubic feet of gas per day. The unit will have storage capacity for 1.6 million b/d of oil including up to 500,000 b/d of condensate.

The auxiliary package designed and manufactured by KTH is for a hot oil circulation pump supplied to the FPSO project by Clyde Union Pumps. The package provides combined API 614 pump lube and API 682 Plan 53b seal systems all on one skid.

API614 / API682 auxiliary package system ready for shipment to Aseng oilfield FPSOThe concept of combining both pump and seal support into a single auxiliary package is a recent innovation from KTH, providing cost savings, simplifying both system design and project management and saving valuable space, particularly beneficial on projects such as FPSOs where available space is at a premium.

Since launching the combined auxiliary package concept early in 2010 KTH has found that the idea has been well received by pump, seal and project engineering clients and now expect this type of product to become a rapid growth area within the business.
