Largest ever pump seal and lube package

Plug and play pressurised lubrication system and seal systemTwo of the largest ever systems designed and built by KTH will be shipped out to Abu Dhabi by the end of summer 2011.

The units, each weighing 10 tonnes and measuring 6m x 3m, have been designed and built by KTH for ClydeUnion Pumps of Penistone as part of a major project for the Abu Dhabi Oil Company.
The systems follow a new concept pioneered by KTH in which all the ancillary equipment for the pump is incorporated on a single skid unit.
The ancillary package skid will provide a ‘plug and play’ pressurised lubrication system and seal system for a water injection pump to be supplied by ClydeUnion. The pump will be used to inject water into the wells at extremely high pressures in order to physically force the oil to the surface – a common technique used today in order to boost well production.Pressurised lubrication and seal system skid

The equipment is part of a massive investment in the SAS fields by the Abu Dhabi Oil Company to boost the country’s overall production output. The SAS field comprises the Sahil, Asab and Shah fields in a desert area about 220 kilometres south of Abu Dhabi city. Production began in 1974 at Asab and was followed by Sahil and Shah and the current investment targets a production increase of some 95,000 barrels of oil per day.
