KTH systems headed for latest BP North Sea production unit

Eleven lube oil systems have just been shipped out from the KTH manufacturing site in the North of England, headed for the latest BP production unit West of the Shetland Isles. BP Clair Ridge is part of the Clair Field development – an area extending to over 220sq km, which has been in production since 2005. Clair Ridge is the latest sector to be developed by BP and is expected to extend the life of the field to 2050, bringing in 120 thousand barrels of crude per day at its peak.

The lube systems supplied were all designed and built by KTH to API 614 Chapter 3  (general purpose) specification and will service a range of Sulzer pumps. Of the eleven systems supplied, three will support oil export pumps, a further four are for water injection pumps and the remaining four support the high pressure pumps that will power the world’s first offshore full field deployment of LoSal* - BP’s enhanced oil recovery technology which utilizes the injection of low salinity water into the reservoir to increase the recovery of oil.
